Why we built skills-based hiring into a student platform

The HUBCV Team · February 18, 2026 · 5 min read

It would have been easier to build HUBCV as a pure student tool and stop there. But every conversation with a hiring manager surfaced the same complaint: keyword-matched resumes create volume, not quality, and volume is the actual bottleneck in early-career hiring.

So the same verified-activity graph that powers a student's living resume also powers employer-side matching: a 92% match score means the role's requirements line up against real coursework, real projects, and real outcomes — not just overlapping vocabulary.

That's also why the business side of HUBCV isn't a separate product bolted on afterward. Schools, colleges, and employers are reading from the same underlying record; they just see different views of it.

The bet is that time-to-hire drops when screening starts from verified skills instead of resume keywords — fewer, better-qualified applications beat a bigger pile every time.
